The project has had several stages and processes since its conception. In 2015, at the request of the indigenous peoples, a prior consultation process was carried out by the Ministry of Transport and Communications in coordination with the Ministry of Culture. Sixty-six agreements were reached and the elaboration of the terms of reference for the Environmental Impact Study of the project was completed.

On September 7, 2017, the concession contract was signed. In 2018, the process of preparation and evaluation of the Environmental Impact Study (EIA) began, which includes the development of citizen participation workshops and the preparation of the baseline study.

In the same way, the preparation of the definitive EDI engineering study is also in process.
